International firm Kennedys has revealed it is to merge with US-based insurance specialists Carroll, McNulty & Kull (CMK).

The combined firm, to be known as Kennedys CMK, will have more than 1,000 lawyers and offices across the US, Europe, Middle East and Africa.

Kennedy’s, a top 30 firm, has offices across the UK and specialises in litigation and dispute resolution.

CMK specialises in insurance defence work including general liability, cyber risk, and medical malpractice. It also has construction and healthcare practices, and handles real estate and employment law issues.

Nick Thomas, senior partner at Kennedys, said: ‘Our growth is always predicated on client need and the global nature of the insurance market means that our clients will benefit from the expertise CMK can offer in the US.’

Chris Carroll, a member at CMK, added: ‘We’ve worked with Kennedys for over ten years having worked together on some of the biggest insurance cases of recent years. We know that we are joining forces with a firm with ambitions and a reputation to match our own.’

The merger will be completed on 1 June.
