Maclay Murray & Spens LLP (MMS) has boosted its 30-strong private client and charities department, with the appointment of Alexis Graham as a partner.

Based in the firm’s Glasgow office, Alexis brings significant experience working with clients in the third sector, as well as advising private clients on wills disputes, tax planning and asset protection.

Andrew Biggart, head of the department, said: ‘Alexis is a formidable lawyer who previously spent seven years in the MMS team. It is great to welcome her back and her expertise will be of significant benefit to our clients.

‘The team is expanding and Alexis’ appointment is an important step in this process.’

Alexis Graham joins the department’s senior management team, which alongside Andrew Biggart, also includes Eleanor Kerr and Alison Richmond, who was promoted to director in June. During the last few months, Keith McLaren, Margaret McGhee and June McDowell have also been welcomed to the team, with further appointments due to be announced before the end of this year.

Alexis said: ‘Rejoining the MMS team was a fantastic opportunity and I am very much looking forward to working with our outstanding clients. There is a real sense of the firm and the private client and charities department being on an upward trajectory and I am looking forward to being a part of that journey.’
