Would the chairwoman of the Association of Women Solicitors kindly explain why making use of its referral scheme (see [2008] Gazette, 20 March, 4) will not contravene Rules 1.02 (Integrity) 1.03 (Independence), 1.04 (Best Interests of Clients) or 6.01(1)(b) (Duty not to Discriminate) of the Solicitors Code of Conduct 2007 - inasmuch as membership of the referral scheme will be closed to male members of the profession?
