Blood and guts

He has been nicknamed 'lazy lump' by his three, no doubt charming, daughters.

So Bradford solicitor Aurangzeb Iqbal decided to do something about it and has signed up for next year's London marathon.

But what has made Mr Iqbal unique is his method of sponsorship.

Rather than the usual 50 pence a mile, Mr Iqbal is asking sponsors to donate pints of blood if he completes the 26 miles.

He is hoping to enter the record books by raising the most pints of blood from one event.

'I did the Manchester marathon in 1985 and I thought I'd do another for a good cause, but something other than money,' he says.

'There are some things that money can't buy.' To pledge blood, contact Mr Iqbal, who works at Bhatti Solicitors, on 01274 414734.
