BUILDING A PROTOCOL

Readers will recall that a consultation on a draft of the housing disrepair protocol was circulated earlier this year.The Law Society's working party received a substantial number of responses representing a wide range of interests.

These have all been considered in detail by the working party and after lengthy discussion, the main thrust of which was to achieve the right balance between inevitably competing interests, we have, I hope, managed to produce a document which will be useful to the profession and its clients.

The current position is that the revised version has now been submitted to the Lord Chancellor's Department with a view to it being incorporated into the Civil Procedure Rules.
