Clocking off

For the first time, my slot as police station duty solicitor fell on the day that British summer time started, and therefore my period on duty was only 23 hours, not 24.

My claim for a standby payment will therefore, understandably, be restricted to 23 hours. However, it strikes me that if my slot were to fall on the day that the clocks are put back, I would be on duty for 25 hours but could only claim payment for 24 hours as this is the maximum permitted by regulations.

This does not seem to be fair.SC Baggott, Mason, Baggott & Garton, Brigg, north Lincolnshire
