Corporate partner quits the law to sell Christmas cards
A corporate partner at a leading Yorkshire firm has quit the law to run a business selling charitable Christmas cards.Gordons Cranswick partner Polly Browne, a corporate lawyer for 13 years in Leeds, teamed up together with former accountant Andrew Smith to set up Red Snapper Designs and sell cards featuring photographs of cities in the north and midlands as well as general winter scenes.'It was quite a financial risk,' said Ms Browne, 'but being a lawyer and accountant we were very prudent to make sure the business was a viable option.'She continued: 'We both did it as a sideline for about four years and talked about doing it full-time, until there came a point where we said "if we don't do it now - we never will".'Ms Browne said she is thoroughly enjoying the change of scene and the business is going well, especially at this time of year.
'We are starting to get orders in now for Christmas,' she said, 'but come January we will be looking to branch out into selling limited edition prints.'Andrew Towler
