CUP OF CHEER
In response to Philip Evans' letter (see [2001] Gazette, 8 November, 15), while I agree with his view on legal aid, I believe he has missed the point of full-time education.Having been in full-time post A-level education for five years, it was not academic learning which was important; it was, among other things, the ability to drink as much alcohol in as little time as possible. This particular skill has been extremely beneficial at social events with both clients and members of the profession who have similar skills. In fact, I recall recently when tendering for a particular contract, the prospective clients set up a competition in which a representative from each of the firms were timed when drinking a yard of ale.
I, of course, won the competition and the firm was handed the contract.Daniel Woodley, Barwell Bedford & Co, Peacehaven, east Sussex
