Delegation to Arab region set to soothe anti-Muslim worries
A delegation of English and Welsh solicitors is in Tunisia this week where they will attempt to ally fears over anti-Muslim reactions to the recent terrorist attacks in the US.The delegation of lawyers is taking part in the latest stage of the Law Society's four-year, eight-country Arab lawyers training programme, which is funded by the European Commission. The group includes solicitors from Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, Lovells, Denton Wilde Sapte, Trowers & Hamlins, Watson Farley & Williams, Wragge & Co, and Peters & Peters.
Roger Ede, the Law Society's international projects group leader, said: 'The Law Society's visit and the opportunity it brings for continued Arab-European dialogue between fellow lawyers takes on an added importance following last week's dreadful events in New York.
The Arab lawyers whom we work with are also our good friends and this is a very important time to reconfirm this.'Neil Rose
