Mr Byass's areas of interest areelectronic certification and signatures as well as e-conveyancing.

He has taken an active part in negotiations with the Land Registry and the Lord Chancellor's Department onelectronic signatures requirements forsolicitors wishing to engage in e-conveyancing, and has frequently spoken about this subject to solicitors.

He has been chairman of the working party since its inception in 1999.
