Firms can tap into files
An electronic filing system widely used by US law firms, which captures legal documents and recreates them to look exactly like the originals, is being marketed in the UK.Acrobat Capture software, by Adobe, converts paper documents to platform and application independent Adobe Portable Document Format (PDF), which on-screen looks identical to the original.
Accessing the document using a secure password, the user can then comment on, alter, mark-up and add links to it, before sending it to a colleague or storing it.Mark Floisand, marketing director of Adobe Systems in the UK and Ireland, said: 'With the current cost of office space so high, the fact that 100,000 pages of documents can be transformed to PDF files and stored on one CD-ROM make it very cost effective.'Andrew Towler
