Firms rev up with Biker Legal Line to help injured riders

Fourteen 'biker friendly' law firms throughout the UK have been selected by the British Motorcycle Federation, which has 23,000 members, to join its new Biker Legal Line and fight the cases of injured bikers. The member firms are helping to finance a call centre, through which cases are referred to them.

'The emphasis of the service will be "bikers advising bikers" as opposed to "lawyers advising bikers", 'said David Faithful, a motorcycle instructor and insurance partner of member firm Amery-Parkes in Birmingham.

'Most of the solicitors involved are motorcycle users and they understand the different technical issues that come with riding one.'Phillip Shuker, a motorcyclist and partner at Manchester firm Cottrill Stone Lawless, said: 'Car-driving solicitors can be unsympathetic to riders who have accidents - they don't understand the factors involved'.
