Flying solo

Our favourite solicitor of the week is, by some distance, Simon Quantrill, who has just set up shop in Ipswich (see Moving on, p8).

An employment partner at Chelmsford firm Wollastons last year, he was thinking about going it alone when he read our feature on sole practitioners (see [2000] Gazette, 22 June, 26).

According to his press release, Mr Quantrill said the article inspired him to take the leap, and he tells Obiter that he even used it to convince his bank manager of the viability of a solo practice.

Its nice to know the Gazette carries such weight.
