I read with interest about the new advertising slogan for the profession 'my hero, my solicitor' (see [2004] Gazette, 9 September, 5). Advertising is a relatively superficial exercise in this context and, as such, I believe it will convince no one.


I do not oppose advertising (on the contrary, through my practice I have done so for years), but I believe this campaign will be met with derision, particularly from clients.
