The firm is not answering phone calls and has yet to respond to email requests for more information.

Based in the city centre, Jolliffes was founded in 1866 and its most recent accounts, covering the year ended March 2024, show that it employed 23 people (that number having come down from 32 in the previous year).

The firm advised on corporate, commercial, employment, commercial property, litigation, residential conveyancing and wills, trusts and probate.

Its website describes itself as a ‘modern yet old-school boutique’ and ‘Chester’s best kept secret’.

The 2023/24 accounts show the business appeared to be in good health, although net assets had fallen by 21% to £330,783 and the firm had virtually no cash reserves.
