Holland steps into local government monitoring rle
Former Law Society President Tony Holland has been named chairman of the new Standards Board for England, which is charged with upholding standards of conduct in local government.The board monitors the conduct of members of local authorities in accordance with a national code of conduct, which was published by the government this week.Mr Holland said: 'People's perception of their councillors is often that they are not trustworthy individuals.
However, the actual number of instances of misconduct remain very small.'The work of the Standards Board covers all local authorities, parish councils and police authorities among others.
