Barrister Kevin McGinty, deputy legal secretary of the Attorney General’s Office, has been named preferred candidate for chief inspector of the Crown Prosecution Service.
The appointment is subject to a hearing by the House of Commons Justice Select Committee.
Lord chief justice and tribunals chief say sufficient belief enough to report wrongdoing.
Regulator said that a review of the firm's files and accounts would have revealed indicators of fraudulent activity.
