Jonathan David HuntAdmitted 1981Application 8031/1999Hearing, 6 April 2000;reasons, 9 June 2000
The SDT reprimanded the respondent, of Rivington Ho, Llanbethery, Barry, South Glamorgan CF62 3AN, who had practised in a partnership until 31 July 1996 (the partnership had been dissolved 12 months later), for unbefitting conduct, in that he had failed to inform the Law Society of his practising arrangements, contrary to s.84 of the Solicitors Act 1974; and he had failed to comply with the Solicitors Indemnity Rules 1995.
The respondent had not really considered that finalising files from his former practice amounted to either setting up a new practice or a successor practice and had not realised the necessity of reporting in detail to the Law Society or the Solicitors Indemnity Fund.
At the time he had been suffering from a depression.
The respondent was ordered to pay 869 costs.
