Justice points

How extraordinary that the Court of Appeal in the case of Taylor & Another v Lawrence & Another (see [2001] Gazette, 22 March, 39) should have lost sight of the fact that justice needs to be seen to be done as well as done.Does the Court of Appeal not realise that the public believes that the law is riddled with the old boy network and that in any event the legal profession, just as any other line of the business, has to show its clean hands and not rely upon the general panacea of its reputation to show all is well within the system?NB Hodson, Hodson-Margetts, Wellingborough, Northamptonshire
