Law Society bursary committee student applications for financial assistance

Each year the Law Societys bursary committee meets to decide which students will be granted awards from the various business and charitable bequests.

The courses which qualify for bursary awards are the common professional examination, the postgraduate diploma in law, and the legal practice course.Applicants need to demonstrate that this need for financial help is greater than that experienced by most students.

They will also have to show evidence of academic ability and achievement.

Of particular importance is a record of service to the community and any legal experience, paid or unpaid.Publicity materials have been sent to the teaching institutions and details are also on the Law Careers Advice Network Web site (www.lcan.csu.ac.uk).

Application forms are available from the Law Societys regulatory and information services, tel: 0870 606 2555, 8.30am to 5pm, Monday to Friday.The closing date for application is 4 May 2001.
