'I tried my hand at divorce law but soon lost interest.
One day a woman came in and said: "Guess what my husband did to me last night? He threw a dustbin over my head." I thought, "It is not legal advice she needs".
That was my last divorce case.' Set up on his own in 1978 in the West End of London, but moved to Holborn in 1989.
Route to the case: 'I was recommended to act on behalf of Kenneth Noye when he was first charged with murder, and handling of the Brink's Mat gold in 1985.' Thoughts on the case: 'With all the scandalous pre-trial publicity, the jury protection and the daily presidential-style armed cavalcade bringing him to court, it was impossible for him to have a fair trail, and that view was shared by many top QCs.
The guilty verdict surprised most people who followed the case closely; and by far the majority of journalists who sat through the trial.' Dealing with the media: 'I think one has to be in a position to have some control over what is actually printed.
I very rarely speak to the media at length.'Anne Mizzi
