A Leeds-based family and criminal law set permanently closed this afternoon after 60 years.

Zenith Chambers posted on its website that it ‘will no longer be operating as a barristers chambers and will be permanently closed’ with effect from 1pm today. It added: ‘The head of chambers on behalf of the members and staff of Zenith Chambers wishes to thank our clients for your loyal and valued custom throughout the past 60 years.’

No reason was given for the closure. According to a report in Yorkshire Legal News, the chambers created a new management team last February in a bid to ‘drive performance improvements’. The set also took on a pupil last autumn.

According to its website, the chambers had over 80 barristers who worked in family, crime and civil law.
