Legal insurance for 19p a weekA Leeds law firm has launched a legal insurance service which will cost employees less than 19p a week.
Four-partner private client and commercial firm David Yablon has self-funded the project, called Law4U.
It is underwritten by Eastgate Assistance.The service allows companies to offer employees and their families legal and associated services.
Companies such as Iceland, Walkers Snack Foods and Samsung have already signed up to a pilot scheme.
Lester Christie, senior partner of David Yablon, said: 'The individual has freedom of choice as to which solicitor they choose.' The firm levies an administrative charge for running the scheme and is expecting some work to be generated by it in addition.Law4U offers cover of up to 50,000 per claim.
Insurers Eastgate and Royal and SunAlliance, banks Bradford & Bingley and Halifax, and property company John Charcol have signed up as the service providers.It is targeting employment, property and personal injury work, and the package includes more than just legal help.
Stress and bereavement counselling, medical information, mortgage advice and discounted associated services are also offered.
