More effort needed on IT security
Law firms should place greater emphasis on the detection of unauthorised parties accessing their private stores of information, the forum heard.Bernard Orians, information security manager at City giant Allen & Overy and the first IT security professional at a law firm in the UK, said: 'There is plenty of expenditure on the prevention and protection of information, but firms neglect devices to tell them when they are being unlawfully breached and by who.'Mr Orians also said how it was important to secure confidential data on all sides as '70% of all known computer crime is committed by insiders'.
Delegates heard how security systems can be used as a selling point to clients and were warned of the risks of a security breach.Andrew Towler
