PRIVATE PRACTICEPartnersA plethora of partnership hires by major London firms grabs the attention this week.Insolvency partner Chris Mallon is leaving Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer to join the City office of US firm Weil Gotshal & Manges.Fellow insolvency lawyer Richard Curtin has joined the partnership of City firm Gouldens after 14 years at Finers Stephens Innocent.Lovells has recruited private equity specialist Derek Baird as partner from the London office of Edinburgh firm Dickson Minto.Also moving to London from a Scottish firm is Thelma Marshall, who leaves McGrigor Donald for partnership in the commercial property team of Mishcon de Reya.The City office of Eversheds has a new banking partner following the recruitment of Philip Perrotta, legal director at BAE Systems' Aircraft Services Group.City firm Fladgate Fielder has a new partner and head of employment with the arrival of David Bickford from Shoosmiths.Mark Satterly is leaving Herbert Smith to become a corporate partner of Landwell, the law firm associated with PricewaterhouseCoopers.US firm Coudert Brothers has a new management team in London after Steven Beharrell, the office's senior and managing partner, was elected the firm's New York-based global chairman.
As a result, corporate lawyers Peter O'Driscoll and Dean Poster have been appointed senior partner and managing partner respectively.Leaving the City is private client lawyer Kelly Noel-Smith.
She joins Westminster firm Radcliffes as its 36th partner from Lawrence Graham.Going further is employment specialist Barry Stanton, who leaves Berrymans Lace Mawer in London to become a partner at Reading firm Boyes Turner.Kent firm Warners has recruited David Briffa from City property boutique firm Terence St J Millett.
He will head up the residential property department as the firm's 11th partner.Property lawyer Sophie Hamilton has been appointed senior partner at London firm Forsters.
She takes over from David Willis, who steps down after three years to concentrate on client work.The Hong Kong office of DLA has lured commercial and e-commerce specialist Jason Carmichael from local firm Deacons to become a partner.In the Home Counties, Aylesbury firm Parrott & Coales has promoted Sarah Plumridge (commercial property) and Harriet Reid (family), taking the partnership to seven.
In the south-west, private finance initiative specialist Chris Wade joins the Bristol office of Bevan Ashford as partner from the Bristol office of Masons.Leicester-based Harvey Ingram Owston has recruited corporate partner Simon Astill from local firm C Norman Astill & Son.

She joins from French firm Granrut Vatier Baudelot, where she was a partner.Manches has experienced a flurry of activity with nine assistants being recruited across the London and Oxford offices.
In London, Lena Sentongo (property) joins from Gouldens, Joanne Middleton (construction) moves down from the Edinburgh office of DLA, and Lisa Jones, Meekal Hashmi and Daniel Honeywell join the family department from Hughes Fowler Carruthers, Dutch financial services company Citco Nederland and Mishcon de Reya respectively.
In Oxford, Mark Minns (employment) joins from Pitmans, Susan Davidson (property) leaves Oxford City Council, Piers Clayden (IP/IT) moves from DLA and Gregory Corcoran (IP/IT) joins from Taylor Joynson Garrett.City firm Charles Russell has recruited assistant solicitor Victoria Benson from Bristows to work in its charities group.Reading firm Blandy & Blandy has tempted Graham Roberts back into the profession as an assistant in the commercial property group.
He previously worked for Lovells, before taking a career break to work as a wine buyer.
Recently qualified with the firm, Tina Thakore and Vishal Puri have joined the corporate and technology department.Staying in the Thames Valley, commercial lawyer Rachel Bateman has left Blaser Mills to become an associate at DMA Legal in Marlow.Tunbridge Wells-based Thomson Snell & Passmore has recruited John Spence as a commercial litigation assistant from Sussex firm Menneers.In the east midlands, Freethcartwright has scooped up Paul Tomlinson from Eversheds to work as a solicitor in its IP/IT department.
In Manchester, Wacks Caller has boosted its commercial litigation team with Michael Saul from Silverbeck Rymer's office in the city.Also moving across Manchester is Cheryl Lodge, who leaves Pannone & Partners to join Slater Heelis Collier Littler as a personal injury assistant.The Leeds office at Pinsent Curtis Biddle has a new employment assistant specialising in health and safety in the shape of Nicholas Sheppard, who joins from Norwich firm Howes Percival.A double appointment in the commercial team of Newcastle-based Dickinson Dees sees Peter Snaith return to the firm from ICI as an associate and Chris Graham join as solicitor from working in-house for Austrian power engineering company VA TECH.
