Name games
The Manchester office of Eversheds is terribly pleased with the new office it is moving into this month, to judge by a glossy mock House Beautiful brochure received this week, featuring modern interiors for modern lawyers.
Now, one does not like to cast aspersions on the imagination of the firms lawyers, but the winner of an internal competition to name the new building came up with Eversheds House, so one hates to think what the losers suggested.
Self-satisfaction then goes a little too far perhaps in a box on how to build your own Eversheds House in six easy steps: 1.
Set up a law firm (some legal experience may be required); 2.
Advise on the law in a straightforward, enterprising, effective way; 3.
Repeat step 2 until your client base has expanded enormously and you need to employ hundreds of staff; 4.
Realise you need bigger offices; 5.
Acquire land and build a large office like Eversheds House; 6.
Move in.
Calm down after all, it is just an office.
