Needy lawyers
Last week, we had a partner in a gorilla suit answering the telephones (which is going to be a hard one to beat), but other firms have been busy raising money for BBC's Children in Need.
Twelve lawyers from north-west firm Daniels bravely marched out on a 13-mile walk from the firm's Congleton office to the Macclesfield branch.
The route that took them up hill, down dale and beside canal, also took them to lunch at the Falls Nook Inn, but the group was able to drag itself away before afternoon turned into evening, and raised 300 in buckets along the way to add to 1,000 in sponsorship.
Meanwhile, somewhat more sedately, Plymouth firm Nash & Co raised 216 in a raffle for which the top prize was a day's paid leave.
Were you to hold such an event at a magic circle firm, you could raise thousands, Obiter suggests.
