A new justice charter will be unveiled at the Law Society next week, setting out key principles that criminal law practitioners can unite behind and campaign for. The charter was drawn up by the London Criminal Courts Solicitors’ Association, with the support of the Criminal Law Solicitors’ Association and Criminal Bar Association.

Criminal defence specialist Jonathan Black, a former LCCSA president, said: ‘Over the last few months we have witnessed disaster after disaster within the justice system – whether it’s disclosure issues, funding issues, court closures or the crisis in our prisons. It’s time for these issues not to be viewed in isolation but brought together.’
