Applications are invited for a geographical place on the Law Society's Council membership committee to represent the City of London.

The committee advises the council on the designation of non-constituency council seats whenever a vacancy arises in such a seat, keeps the constituency boundaries for council elections under review, and advises generally on the size and representative nature of the council.

The majority of the members are not council members, and it is made up of a geographical component and a non-geographical component, consisting of representatives from a range of interest groups and categories of solicitors.

Any member of the Law Society practising or employed in the City of London is eligible to be appointed to the place on the committee representing the City.

The time commitment involved is about three or four half-day meetings a year.

The Society wishes to encourage applications from all eligible solicitors, irrespective of gender, race, colour, age, sexual orientation or disability, and appointments will be based on merit, following an open and clear selection process.
