Put the flags out

When we first saw this photograph marking Trowers & Hamlins 20th anniversary in Oman, we were most taken by the impressive headwear of Trowers lawyer Majid Al Toky.

Is it a local tradition that the birthday boy (or his representative) wears a flag on his head? Sadly not.

Trowers informs us that it was merely an unfortunate camera angle and that Mr Al Toky was standing in front of a flagpole.

This ruined our planned caption, which had fellow Trowers lawyer Sean Angle (centre) saying to Darwish Ismail Ali Al Balushi, Omans undersecretary for finance: Did you forget your flag? Instead, we can report that the affair was most impressive and attended by the Lord Mayor of London, the British ambassador to Oman, and various ministers.
