Re a SolicitorApplication 7504/1997Hearing, 13 April 2000: memorandum and order, 26 May 2000
The applicant sought leave to withdraw the application.
Following complaints by certain clients, the investigation accountant had inspected the respondent's accounts.
Certain queries had been raised on the accounts, but these had been dealt with completely and satisfactorily by the respondent's solicitors.
Further allegations had arisen, and the respondent had been faced with extremely unpleasant allegations from persons who had subsequently been proved to be wholly untrustworthy; the allegations had been unfounded.
An application was made for the respondent's defence costs (other than consequential losses).
Leave to withdraw the application was granted and the applicant was ordered to pay 4,435 costs.
