Spud you like

We now have a winner for the most demented - but strangely effective - publicity stunt, and it all boils down to the common spud.

To herald its re-publication of Stroud's Judicial Dictionary of Words and Phrases, where potatoes are legally defined for the first time (why, we are not sure), Sweet & Maxwell raided the local supermarket and sellotaped a spud to the front of each notice sent out.

The dictionary also provides definitions for 'lard' and 'wife' which Obiter is sure will come in handy.

Any lawyers finding themselves in bed with a tub of lard or trying to baste the Sunday roast with their wife will have somewhere to go to check where they made their mistake.
