All staff at national firm Burges Salmon will be awarded a 5% bonus after another year of significant growth. Net profit at the firm increased by 25% to £63m in the year to April 2025, with turnover up by 9.2% to £178m. Profit per equity partner remained stable at £600,000.
Over the past four years, revenue at Burges Salmon has grown by almost 50%. Meanwhile headcount has expanded by around 40% to more than 1,200 people.
Roger Bull, managing partner, said: ‘This year’s results reflect the strength of our strategic focus and the dedication of our people. Our growth is not only financial but cultural and operational, driven by our commitment to our clients, our markets, and our values.’
The firm, which has its headquarters in Bristol, highlighted its success in social mobility, with 80% of trainees and solicitor apprentices coming from a state school background. There are now 19 legal apprentices and 24 business services apprentices working towards qualification with the firm.
Double-digit growth was reported in several practice areas, including construction and engineering, corporate, pensions and lifetime savings, real estate and private client.
Nine partners and 17 directors were appointed during 2024/25, reflecting what the firm pinpointed as a commitment to career development and succession planning.
Burges Salmon now has offices in Bristol, Edinburgh, London and Dublin. It does not have an international base but instead works with independent firms as part of a network. International referral revenue amounted to around 15% of turnover, with strong contributions from Germany and the US.
