I read with interest Richard Taylor’s article regarding copyright problems over the uniform of the Imperial Stormtroopers featured in the Star Wars films (see [2010] Gazette, 4 February, 14). It would appear the editor knows far more about intellectual property law than Star Wars – the accompanying picture is actually that of a clone trooper of the Army of the Republic. It was only after the Clone Wars and the birth of the Galactic Empire that the clone trooper army was reorganised into the Imperial Stormtrooper Corps.
