Companies: electronic service offers 24-hour solution

A barrister this week launched an electronic service that allows lawyers to register companies for their clients in 24 hours.

Barry Spencer-Higgins, chief executive officer of SCF Ltd, has created In-a-minute solutions, a Web-based company start-up package that provides legal documents, creates domain names and Web sites, has links to professional advice, and produces automated annual return reminders - together with other services vital to running a company.'We hold the solicitor's hand while they hold the client's hand,' said Mr Spencer-Higgins.

'In-a-minute takes the burden off solicitors and allows them to offer a whole range of options to clients who want to start a company.' The service offers company creation around the world.Mr Spencer-Higgins, who was in chambers at Gray's Inn in London, said he gave up practice because he thought his business skills were not being properly used.

He argued that it is important for small law firms to offer more business advice to clients or risk falling behind the services offered by accountants.

Subscribers to In-a-minute can register limited companies for 45 and will receive legal documentation including a memorandum of association, on-line register and certificate of incorporation form Companies House, within 24 hours. The company also offers a virtual office service, as well as real office stationery and accessories.Andrew Towler
