The season of giving: we are constantly impressed by the profession's non-pro bono charitable work, as witnessed by various events: Katy Sheppard and Lewis Burden (above right) of West Midlands firm Challinors Lyon Clark donated used computers and children (not really) to local Yew Tree Primary School, which had had some stolen (computers that is).

Meanwhile, (from left) Liz Corcoran and Sara Fagan of Merseyside Trainee Solicitors Group (above left) gave 1,600, raised by its recent annual ball, to charities supporting middle-aged men with dodgy moustaches (actually two local hospices).

Also, when the NSPCC was short of cash to run its 'I want to be safe' campaign aroundprimary schools in the West Midlands, Birmingham firm Carvers (not pictured) stepped in with a cheque for 7,000 to make up the shortfall.
