Vernon Cade fund

Grace Cade, a widow of a Cambridge solicitor, bequeathed a one-half share of the residue of her estate to establish the Vernon Cade fund for the benefit of trainee solicitors to assist them in their education.

By the terms of the will, to be eligible for an award a person should reside in or be employed within the county of Cambridge.Awards will ordinarily be made in the summer of each year.

Applications are invited now, especially from students taking the common professional examination or the legal practice course.

Because the Vernon Cade fund has a limited income, it is unlikely that large awards will be made and grants would normally be between 500 and 1,500.Applications must be made by 1 October 2001 on the appropriate application form which may be obtained from: the Information Services Team, Regulation & Information Services, the Law Society, Ipsley Court, Berrington Close, Redditch, Worcestershire, B98 0TD; tel: 0870 606 2555; e-mail: info.services@lawsociety.org.uk
