What every mountaineer reads

What better way to celebrate climbing Mount Kilimanjaro than reading your copy of the Gazette, worth lugging despite the heavyweight nature of its content? That is clearly the view of Charlie Hawtin (pictured), one of Alexander Forbes' solicitors indemnity team, who set out to scale the mountain with Neil Franklin, an assistant solicitor with City firm Reynolds Porter Chamberlain.

Mr Franklin was apparently worked off his feet the week before the pair jetted to Kenya at the end of last month, and on arrival caught a bad cold.

Unfortunately, on the way up the mountain the solicitor became so unwell that he was reportedly coughing until the blood vessels in his retina burst.

However, the all-smoking all-drinking broker Mr Hawtin continued, and completed the climb, which raised 2,000 for breast cancer.

Mr Franklin - now back in England - is still in hospital.

We wish him well.
