The Association of Women Solicitors (AWS) is setting up a formal scheme to help women solicitors refer work to one another, it revealed at its 85th anniversary dinner last week.
Under the scheme, members will register on a website, and provide vetted details of their performance record, accreditations and panel memberships, which can be accessed by other members. Some firms are already supporting the scheme by sponsoring AWS membership subscriptions.
Newly elected AWS chairwoman Fiona Fitzgerald, a partner in the legal expenses division of national firm Colemans-ctts, said: 'If an AWS member brings in a steady stream of new business then the partners must sit up and take note. Doors could open to promotion.'
She added that equal pay was another key issue for her term of office.
