The Bay City Rollers were Top of the Pops and Margaret Thatcher became the first female leader of the Conservative party. 1975 is a very long time ago indeed – and but a vestigial memory for Obiter. One distinguished solicitor with good cause to remember the year very well is Andrew Holroyd (OBE, CBE), who was president of the Law Society of England and Wales back in 2007/08. Andrew is this month celebrating 50 years with the same Merseyside firm (now Jackson Lees Group).
What’s more, the 77-year-old has no plans to retire. Why not?
‘I’ve never done anything for too long to become bored – I’ve always moved on to something else, which has brought lots of new challenges,’ he told Liverpool World. ‘It’s still a career I would recommend – it’s an opportunity to make a difference.’
