The Society’s Annual ConferenceThe first item on the Conference programme will be a reception at the Grand Hotel. In view of the fact that the Conference this year opens on a Sunday, this reception will not, as on former occasions, take the form of a dance, but light music will be provided. In addition to the general social programme, the Council have arranged a special programme for the entertainment of lady guests during the working sessions on Tuesday morning and afternoon.
LettersDear Sir,I would be interested to know what members of the profession feel about the advent of the photographic copying machine and its impact on the profession as a whole. Whilst these machines undoubtedly relieve our copy typists of a lot of laborious and time consuming effort in litigation matters, I have not been too impressed with their impact in regard to conveyancing matters. The time may be fast approaching when we may have to ask the Law Society for some guidance in regard to their use.

Mrs Thatcher and Capital PunishmentOn Mrs Thatcher’s behalf, I write to acknowledge the editor’s letter... concerning capital punishment. Mrs Thatcher personally understands and shares your concern on this matter and is of the opinion that the death penalty should be available as a punishment for those who commit certain kinds of murder. Mrs Thatcher has always voted for the restoration of capital punishment.
