The Law Society’s Gazette, 30 June 1999 Costs control attack Solicitors should not be required to file binding estimates of costs which could be used to limit recovery from clients, the Law Society has said. In its response to a government consultation paper on controlling costs, the Society said attempts to enforce price control between solicitors and clients ‘had no part to play in a modern competitive market’ and went against government policy.

The Law Society's Gazette, June 1929 Rugby Football Club Lord Riddell, in proposing the health of the Club, said that in the old days, solicitors very rarely saw one another without quarrelling. There was a much better feeling creeping in between solicitors nowadays. He was certain that the Club would do a great deal towards fostering that feeling of friendship among solicitors. It was a very difficult thing to quarrel with a man with whom you had played on the Rugger field.
