It may have been set up only this month, but a Twitter account for Reading County Court’s lift has already collected more than 1,300 followers. Users of HM Courts and Tribunals Service premises will guess the general theme. ‘Does anyone out there know when I last worked?’ @CourtLift tweeted plaintively last week.

But good news is on the way. Susan Acland-Hood, chief executive of HM Courts & Tribunals Service, has tweeted in reply: ‘Dear Reading County Court Lift - I am sorry it has taken us longer than it should have to fix you, but I am glad the work is well underway (the engineer is on site, working on you). He is due to finish at the end of May - I am checking that this is still on track…’

The poorly but delighted lift tweeted: ‘This is great news. Onwards and upwards!’ And downwards, too, we hope.

Not such good news apparently from the Twitter feed CCMS is Unwell (@ccmsis), which, with a nod to Soho drinking tradition is ‘Driving a Coach and Horses through access to justice’. The feed of course purports to be from the HMCTS client and cost management system, notorious for, er, teething troubles. As well as homage to the late and frequently indisposed columnist Jeffrey Bernard the site appears to be channelling HAL from 2001 A Space Odyssey. ‘I have every enthusiasm for the mission,’ reads one particularly sinister update.

Any other interesting feeds out there? @ObiterGazette would love to follow you.
