Smooth seas and fair winds to David Bailey, a dispute resolution partner at City firm DMH Stallard, as he takes on one of the world’s most gruelling tests of endurance – a solo swim across the English Channel.
Bailey plans to dive into the chilly waters off Dover on Sunday to battle tides, jellyfish and unpredictable weather across the world’s busiest shipping lane. And, according to Channel Swimming Association rules, without a wetsuit.
Bailey is raising funds for four charities in memory of his mum, Beryl, who died in 2020. They are the Alzheimer’s Society, Save the Children Fund, the Saltdean Lido Trust, of which he has been a trustee for seven years, and Sea Sure, a community-focused project in Brighton & Hove that uses the power of the sea to support mental health and wellbeing. He said: ‘If people can donate any amount, big or small, it will certainly help me to meet the huge challenge ahead of me, especially knowing these incredible good causes will benefit.’ More details here.
