Starting off in the City, the most high-profile move of the week sees Robert MacGregor switch from Clifford Chance to Berwin Leighton Paisner to head the firm’s real estate department as a partner.

Roger Franklin: litigation paerner at Edwin Coe At Edwin Coe, Roger Franklin is promoted to partner in the litigation group, while Brendan Murphy joins as an employment partner from Sprecher Grier Halberstam in the City.


Ann Northover joins City firm Forsters’ family team as a partner from Gordon Dadds in London.



Moving to Kings Hill, Kent, Stuart Butler-Gallie leaves Davies Lavery in Maidstone to set up corporate practice Vertex Law with Mark Ledger-Beadell from Meta Corporate Finance.



In Watford, family specialist Richard Phillips is promoted to partner at Matthew Arnold & Baldwin.



Kathryn Gilbertson, previously head of regulatory compliance at US/UK firm Dechert, joins the business defence unit at Greenwoods in Peterborough as an associate director.

David Edwards leaves Branton Edwards in Manchester to join Hilary Meredith Associates in Wilmslow, Cheshire, where he will oversee a new employers’, public and product liability practice.



Three are promoted to partner at Liverpool’s Canter Levin & Berg: Steve Rushton (road traffic accident); Claire Jansz (personal injury) and Richard Hughes (crime).



David Coffey leaves Elliot Mather in Chesterfield to head the probate team at Graysons in Sheffield.

Two property assistant solicitors join London firm Maples Teesdale: Laura Cotton from Cumberland Ellis Peirs in London and Kate Amos from City firm Lawrence Graham.

Corporate and commercial specialist Karl Taylor moves to Wollastons in Chelmsford, Essex as a senior associate from City firm Ashurst.


Four trainees are taken on after qualification at Gateley Wareing in Birmingham: Jacob Robinson and David Byrne (corporate); Amber Wright (construction) and Su Garner (finance).



Still in the west midlands, assistant solicitor James Gwilliams moves to the conveyancing team at Talbots from the Cotteridge branch of Davidsons.



Rada Kemp leaves the Engineering Employers Federation to head a new employment service as a senior solicitor in the Manchester office of City firm Trowers & Hamlins.

Grace & Co in Cheshire has hired barrister Sue Bean for its family law services team.



Employment barrister Bruce Henry moves to north-west law firm Lees Lloyd Whitley from the chambers of RS Dodds in Preston.

On the south-eastern circuit, solicitor Rachel Karp is appointed a district judge.

Barrister Heather MacGregor is appointed a district judge of the principal registry of the Family Division, while barrister Roger Thorn QC becomes a circuit judge on the north-eastern circuit.
