Haroon Shah: equality partner at Christian Khan

A busy week for promotions through the ranks. Four are promoted to partner at London firm Christian Khan: Monika Pirani (family); Andre Clovis (police actions); Julian Groombridge (crime) and Shazia Khan (employment and public law). James Bell (personal injury and clinical negligence) and Haroon Shah (crime) are promoted from salaried partners to join the firm’s equity.

Russell Jones & Walker promotes eight new partners in its offices across the UK: Neil Blundell, Rakesh Somaia and Jeremy Summers (criminal and investigations in London); Tristan Hallam (personal injury in London); Nick Collins (personal injury in Cardiff); Jonathan Reid (personal injury in Sheffield); Julie Morris (employment in London) and Adam Tulk (head of IT in Manchester).

Carol Jones: moves to Nabarro Nathanson

Tracy Diamond is promoted to partner in the company and commercial practice at Phillips in Basingstoke.

Nicholas Rock joins Blake Lapthorn Linnell in Fareham, south Hampshire as a partner in the environment team from magic circle firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, where he was a senior associate.

In Tunbridge Wells, Kent, Roy Willis is promoted to partner in the commercial property team at Thomson Snell & Passmore.

Also in Kent, commercial property specialists Darren Millis and Angela Rowe are promoted to partner at Warners in Tonbridge.


Poole Alcock in Nantwich, Cheshire promotes two to the partnership: Caroline Massey (matrimonial) and Lee Hartshorne (crime), bringing the total number of partners to 19.


Ian Hardman leaves Hammonds in Manchester to head the construction team at Brabners Chaffe Street in Liverpool.


Pensions specialist Carol Jones leaves magic circle firm Linklaters to become partner at Nabarro Nathanson in Sheffield.

Busy times at London firm Clintons, which takes on Sonia Slater as head of its private client department from City firm Payne Hicks Beach, while Andrew Young joins the commercial litigation team from Grove Darlow in New Zealand. Paul Newton joins the family practice as an assistant solicitor from Dickinson Dees in Newcastle, while James Nethercot qualifies into the property team. Barrister Charlie Anderson joins the litigation team on completion of a pupillage at 11 South Square.

Shirah Real qualifies into the wills and probate team at Phillips in Basingstoke.


At Eric Robinson’s commercial department in Hampshire, Kerry Sander joins from Gurney-Champion in Portsmouth, while John Fairhall joins from DTW in Bournemouth.


At Thomson Snell & Passmore in Kent, Jane Cashman joins the private client team after a career break, having formerly worked at Campbell Hooper in London. Five are promoted to senior associate at the firm: Helen Stewart (private client), Rebecca Swain (residential conveyancing), Graham Bell (clinical negligence), Simon Immins (family and matrimonial) and Henar Dyson (company and commercial). Two are promoted to associate: Peter Flory (clinical negligence) and Susan Smith (private client).

Mei-Ling Huag: joins Burroughs Day from US

Susan Jennings leaves ASB in Maidstone for the employment team at Vizards Wyeth in Dartford.

Still in Kent, Steve Colville and Noel Barratt are promoted to associates at Warners.


Bristol firm Burroughs Day takes on relocating US lawyer Mei-Ling Huang in its professional negligence disputes team.


Ricksons promotes two associates: Gill Rothwell (insurance) in Manchester and James Cowell (corporate) in Preston.


Hull-based Rollits takes on three assistant solicitors after qualifying at the firm: Gerry Salmon (charity law), Ed Jenneson (employment) and Chris Drinkall (commercial litigation).


Two solicitors are taken on after qualifying at McCormicks in Leeds: Jonathan Simms (corporate and commercial) and Estelle Oates (commercial dispute resolution).

Charity law specialist Elizabeth Cairns moves to Thomson Snell & Passmore in Kent as a consultant from her own eponymous practice.
