Maralyn Thomas leaves Harvey Ingram in Leicester to become a partner in the pensions department of Midlands practice Browne Jacobson.



Four associates in the London office of US firm Jones Day are made up to partner: Andrew Barker (banking & finance), Rosalind Connor (employee benefits), Tim Flood (government regulation) and Vica Irani (capital markets). The firm also recruits Peter Baldwin from US firm Cadwalader Wickersham & Taft to its M&A practice.



Corporate finance partner Kate Maguire joins City firm Fladgate Fielder from Nomura International.



City firm Barlow Lyde & Gilbert appoints Peter Flint to its international arbitration team. He leaves City firm Watson Farley & Williams.



Clare Prior moves from Eversheds to become head of the planning and environmental team at City firm Speechly Bircham.



US firm McDermott Will & Emery appoints Hugh Nineham as head of its European and London corporate practice from Lovells.



US firm Howrey adds two partners to its intellectual property practice: Marjan Noor from Taylor Wessing and Paul Inman from Simmons & Simmons.



Stephen Hornsby and Roger Billins leave Michael Simpkins to join the litigation team at London practice Davenport Lyons as partners. Max Gower (corporate) steps up to partner in the same practice, which also hires music partner Nigel Davies from City firm K&L Gates.



National firm Weightmans appoints corporate lawyer John Connolly to its London office. He leaves Rosenblatt, where he was an associate.



Health and safety specialist Mike Appleby leaves Fisher Scoggins to join London firm Housemans.



Tim Heywood, a senior government lawyer and head of commercial at the Treasury Solicitors Department, has been appointed head of procurement, competition and state aid at national firm Bevan Brittan.



Moving away from London, employment lawyer Susanna Gilmartin joins the commercial group at Kent-based Thomson Snell & Passmore. She was previously head of employment at Vizards Wyeth in London.



Exeter firm Michelmores appoints Andrew Tobey to its employment team. He was previously head of litigation at Bond Pearce.

Kicking off in the north west, Debra Barber is appointed associate in the commercial litigation team at Birkenhead firm the Keith Jones Partnership. She was previously at DWF in Liverpool.



Family solicitor Lindsay Jones joins the Manchester office of Irwin Mitchell. She was previously at Myers Lister Price in Altrincham.



Jonathan Hall leaves Mortons in Sunderland to expand the commercial litigation team at south Manchester firm Chafes.



North east firm Crutes appoints litigator Simon Matthews to its personal injury team from DLA Piper.



In Yorkshire, Sheffield firm Taylor & Emmet appoints three solicitors: Rachel Houghton (commercial property and housing associations) from Cobbetts in Leeds; Peter Crawford (corporate finance) who was previously at Taylor Vintners in Cambridge; and Louise Conroy (employment) from Raleys in Barnsley.



In the Midlands, solicitor Roscoe Fernandes joins the employment team at Nottingham firm Berryman from Freeth Cartwright.



The London office of Plexus Law hires Emma Hockley as a professional indemnity solicitor from Shoosmiths.



Gary Yantin joins West End firm Wallace as a commercial property solicitor. He was previously in-house legal counsel at amusement arcades operator Talarius.



Further south, Kent firm Baileyfields appoints Roselyn Borg to its employment team. She was previously at Newsome Vaughan in Coventry.



Two are promoted to associate at Portsmouth-based Churchers: Mary Hazlewood (probate, wills, trust and tax) and Jane MacKenzie (childcare and family). The firm also promotes two criminal lawyers to senior solicitor: Adrian Dodd and Graham Hopley.
