US firm White & Case hires Phillip Capper as a partner from Lovells, where he was head of the international arbitration practice. London firm Ince & Co makes up two partners: Jonathan Goldfarb (shipping, oil and gas) and Carol Searle (insurance). City firm Olswang makes up ten: Amy Collins, Paul Guite, Natasha Kaye, Anthony Waller (corporate); Steven Corney, Melanie Lane, Nick Lane (litigation); and Marc Dautlich, Robert Stephen and Sarah Wright (media, communications, and technology). In the Midlands, Lindsay Ellis joins Wright Hassall in Leamington Spa as a partner from Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons in Oxford, where he headed the IT and outsourcing practice. Moving north, Beachcroft hires Lesley Hughes as a real estate litigation partner to work with clients in Leeds and Manchester; she was previously an associate with Walker Morris in Leeds. In Newcastle upon Tyne, Dickinson Dees recruits two partners to its insolvency and corporate recovery team: Julian Gill from Watson Burton and Will Gunston from Osborne Clarke, where he was a senior associate. Associates/Assistants In London, US firm Squire Sanders & Dempsey takes on two associates: Lauren Priest-Stephens (finance) from Speechly Bircham, and Tatiana Nevard (corporate) from Memery Crystal. Natalie Friday joins London-based Miles & Partners as a matrimonial assistant from Blandy & Blandy in Reading. London’s Kingsley Napley appoints assistant Rashidah Conroy to its criminal and regulatory team from Blake Lapthorn Tarlo Lyons. City firm Taylor Wessing appoints Kazi Rahman as an associate in its finance group; he was previously at Norton Rose. London firm Howard Kennedy appoints Tim Hallam to its planning department; he was previously at Westminster City Council. In Kent, Alex Tengroth joins Canterbury firm Fairweather & Co’s clinical negligence department as an assistant, from Shoosmiths. To the south coast, where Andrew Frake joins the recovery and insolvency department at the Brighton office of asb law from Essex firm Sanders Witherspoon. In Buckinghamshire, Beaconsfield-based Bailey Gibson promotes three to associate: Kathy James (head of probate), Susana Diez (head of the Spanish department), and Liz Orman, who works in the family department at the High Wycombe office. Still on the south coast, Louisa Ghevaert joins Lester Aldridge in Bournemouth as an assistant from Taylor Vinters in Cambridge. Over in Cornwall, Samantha Timmins joins Charles French & Co in Truro as an assistant from Ashfords in Exeter. South-west firm Dyne Drewett appoints John James to its Sherborne commercial litigation team; he was previously with Pardoes in Bridgwater. Andrew Lugger joins the Okehampton office of Stones as a commercial property associate from Plymouth-based Wolferstans. West Midlands firm Silks hires four: Ravinder Sandhu (private client) joins the Smethwick Warley office from Challinors, while Jonathan Leigh (civil litigation) moves to the Oldbury office from London firm Quist. Paulette Thompson (personal injury) and Lukhvinder Kandola (commercial property) are appointed after completing their training with Silks; they join the Netherton and Oldbury offices respectively. MERGERS Leicester-based Barlow Poyner Foxon is to merge with Hefford Johnson of Market Harborough.
