Will one of these idiot politicians who like to attack the ECHR just because it has the word "European" in it please tell us which rights they don't like? Is it the right to life, the right to a fair trial, the right not to be held in arbitrary detention or one of the other equally reasonable rights that anyone and everyone should enjoy? Allowing the extreme right to dictate the political agenda just plays into the hands of the extremists and will end up with ordinary people worse off. One of the few achievements of the Blair government was passing the Human Rights Act. Labour should embrace that, not be apologetic about it.
