A decade or more ago most barristers simply would not have applied to the District Bench. That they now do is, perhaps, a reflection of the fact that for many the Bar is not as lucrative as it once was, or is it that the salary (inc pension) as a DJ is not as bad as some commentators like to suggest in their posts on this site.
